Interns Prepare for Medical Field Placements

While students had an off- day on October 5th because of staff PD, six students were busy getting a required CPR training as part of the Healthcare Pilot Preceptorship Grant program.  They are all placed in internships in the healthcare field.  We are very proud of their efforts and wish them all the best as they gain experience in the medical field. Music for Everyone!

Music for Everyone!

By Sydney Knisley The Federal Valley Resource Center in Stewart, Ohio is a beautiful building where people can hold gatherings and learn the arts, history, education, and other activities. It's a great place for kids and families to attend, but I would like to focus on the music aspect of this building. When you first walk into one of the first rooms on the left, they have a music library. And it is a blessing in disguise. The music library gives out free lessons for whatever interests you, and if you don't have an instrument? Well, you can ‘rent’  one…

A Summer List for the Bored and Dispirited

A Summer List for the Bored and Dispirited

By India Dyer In the past I’ve noticed people posting during the summer about how bored they are,  how dull the world is, there's nothing to do in little ol’ southeast Ohio yada yada… To be frank, that has no merit. I am usually bothered by these because for one, there's nothing more boring than posting about how bored you are, and two, I’m fully aware that this is not true. Southeastern Ohio has plenty of things to do that are cheap or free and fun. So in an attempt to stop seeing the “I’m bored anyone in Athens?” posts…

Make Good Art

Make Good Art

By Jozlyn Bew Make good art.  It’s what Neil Gaiman hails.  And it’s the code that Ms. Hadley and the Federal Hocking Art Club has been adhering to for the past year, whether it’s pulling gifts together for Ukraine refugees, creating for the Governor’s Art Show, or just sketching cartoons in the classroom.  The somewhat (sadly) delayed Art Club year began with work for the FH Drama Club, who was performing A Christmas Carol for their winter show. A fairly large group of club members pitched in after school to paint sets and build props for the show, and the…

Community Supports Ukraine

Community Supports Ukraine

By Michael Nelson While we sit safe in our homes, Ukrainians have been displaced or forced from theirs’. The majority of survivors have chosen to seek refuge in surrounding countries. This mass exodus is a result of the Russian military’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. Since the start of the war, in February 2022, early estimates report that more than 4.6 million refugees have left Ukraine. As of April 6, 2022, 6.5 million citizens have been displaced from their own homes to seek refuge in other parts of Ukraine-also being forced to leave their homes. The people leaving the country have…
