Let me introduce you to an intelligent bunch of individuals attending Federal Hocking High School: the Business Professionals of America.
This small club composed of twelve teens focuses on business practices and skills needed to adapt in the economy today, as well as acts of service in their community and school. They train themselves in jobs such as publishing, programming, video production and design, and public speaking. After perfecting their craft, they compete against other schools in these categories. It’s a fast paced, exciting, and scholarly experience enjoyed by all of the members.
These members include Ceil Thompson and Timothy Zimmerman, who competed together in the Visual Design category, Sydney Knisley and Adam McKnight, the team competitors in the Video Production category, and Thomas Schwarzel, one of the competitors in Linux Operation System Fundamentals. They, and every member, gave their projects their all. Every competitor ended up placing in the regional portion of the competition. The BPA club is very proud of its members and the work they’ve produced. The Region 2 competition is made up of 22 schools, and over 800 participants, so having an entire club place in the competition is nothing to turn away. The BPA club has had an exciting opportunity, and it has ended in success.
Something else the club is proud of are the members making the journey to compete in the statewide competition. Gracie King, Alex Jenkins, Myles Vorisek, Thomas Schwarzel, and Jozlyn Bew. King will be challenged in Economic Research, reciting a speech on tactics used to fight recession using inflation. Vorisek will compete in the Digital Media Production category. Jenkins will offer his work in the Linux Operation System Fundamentals competition, while Schwarzel will be doing programming in C#/Visual Basic. Bew will be giving a speech on Gen-Z in the workforce for her Prepared Speech competition. The club is cheering them on, hoping they can take another win. If they do, these members will move onto the nationwide competition, located this year in Anaheim, California.
Congratulations to the award winners of 2022/2023, and good luck to those moving on to state!
