Ford’s Mustang GT Series Review

By: Josh Dowler

Mustang is a world renown car brand with many great car series. My personal favorite is the Mustang GT series. It has many cars but which one should you buy? I’m here to answer that!

First up, let’s talk about the engine. The engine that powers all Mustang GTs since 2011 is called the Coyote. It is a 5 liter 302 cubic inch engine that can make 420-482 from stock and can handle 4 digit horsepower reliably. This engine is also used in the f150s. The Coyote makes a good track, drag racing, or work engine because of the light weight block and heads made of aluminum. also has forged connecting rods and crank.

Even though Mustangs are more of a track and drag racing car  Just about every generation of Mustang would make a good daily and for being fast they get good mileage. All of them are pretty comfortable because of detail to the interior and suspension, and most handle really well. Additionally, the reliability of the 5.0 302 ford Coyote is really good and can last up to 400k miles.

Now let’s look at the best of the Mustang GT series.

2024 Mustang GT (pictured above)

This 2024 Mustang GT makes between 480-482 crank horsepower of pure American muscle paired with either a MT-82 6 speed manual transmission or a 10r80 10 speed auto. It has an upgrade from its original Coyote motor; it now has dual throttle body and intakes that pushes it up about 25-30 more horsepower than the last gen. The new 2024 also has suspension upgrades that make it better for the track and handling also the new Mustang premium or not they all have luxury interior filled with technology and comfort. The engine that powers 2011 and up Mustang GT. This engine is called the Coyote. It is a 5 liter 302 cubic inch engine that can make 420-482 from stock and can handle 4 digit horsepower.

2020 Mustang GT

This is the third generation Mustang with 450-460 horsepower from the factory. This car is a 5.0 Coyote motor that can handle up to 1300hp and still be a daily driver. It has a lot of aftermarket parts and is good for the price and will be one of the fastest cars on the road. This Mustang is an all-American dual overhead cam (DOHC) just like all of the Coyote motors. The Mustang is a rear wheel drive (RWD) muscle car that has been dominating the streets since 1965 and a smile on people’s faces with its fascinating acceleration. The third gen and second gen are the same but you have a choice to get a 10 speed over a 6 in the third.

 2013 Mustang GT

This is the first generation Mustang it’s a 420 hp Coyote motor pared with a 6r80 or MT82

It is my favorite style but the Shelby version came with the fastest Shelby Ford. The 5.8 supercharged V8 still has a record set till this day. Code name s197

2011 Mustang GT

This is the same generation just has a bit of a difference because it was the first year of the Coyote. It has different back and front bumper and tail, headlights and 10 less horsepower but has the same potential as the rest or more because it weighs 600 lb lighter than the rest.

Personally I would choose between 2013 or 2024 because in my opinion they look the best and have the best features starting with 2024. The 2024 Mustang has the best interior and has the latest tech while the 2013 has a nice interior but it’s a little bit older tech compared to todays standards. I like it because when you think of a musical car you think of power and aggression and 2013 has both.
