Girls with Goals

Girls with Goals

The Federal Hocking Lancers’ volleyball team had a very exciting season. They went 15-9 and fell just short in the district semi-finals. Although it didn’t end the way they wanted it to, several members of the team reflected on a great season.  Going into the season, it was obvious that the team was going to face some adversity. Not only did they have to build team chemistry between players, but they also had to adjust to a new coaching staff. Senior Olivia Tabler felt that learning to trust and respect first year Head Coach Ryan Grimm, and the rest of…

Record Thief

Record Thief

Federal Hocking’s phenomenal golfer didn’t even know she stole the record. Junior Addison Jackson was on the golf course just trying her best when she surpassed her PR and shot a 36 for the nine holes. As it turned out, she took the record from her brother Mason Jackson, but at that moment, he didn’t even know he held the school record. “My brother didn’t know he broke the record until I took the record.” But he still holds the record for a nine hole game with 35 in a nine-hole game. She broke the school record at Lakeside, which…

Breaking Records

Breaking Records

Evan McPherson went from hating running to breaking the school's record time. In middle school, McPherson played basketball and football. He first joined cross country to be with friends and quickly learned about the difficulties of the sport. McPherson was one of the slowest on the team and would often get left behind when they ran; regardless, he pushed on. Rosemary Stephens and Brayden Tabler, who were upperclassmen runners when McPherson was in middle school, pushed him to be a better runner and he started to enjoy running. He was also extremely inspired by Ron Dunfee, who had set the…

Senior Girls Basketball Spotlight 22-23

Senior Girls Basketball Spotlight 22-23

By Juni Ballew Senior year is different for each and every person. Some say it was the best, some say the worst. I personally don't know anything about senior year or the feeling of leaving everything you knew for the last 12 years. In a way I would imagine it can be tough and scary but also freeing and exciting. If you participated in a sport throughout high school or just a couple years you know how important the last year of a sport is for seniors. There's senior night, with raging crowds, gifts, and many congratulations. There's the last…

Lancer Boys Triumph

Lancer Boys Triumph

by Jozlyn Bew It’s official, the Trimble Tomcats’s record has been broken by Federal Hocking’s own basketball team in a gripping buzzer beater! In front of a crowd full of eager Fed Hock students, Andre Crockwell made the winning half-court shot. It was certainly a satisfying win after our last game, in which we lost by just one point. The Tomcats are now rejected from their track record of perfect games, thanks to Crockwell’s stunning last minute shot. And the victory continues for the Lancer Boys’ Basketball, as they’ve claimed a sectional win! Our team is certainly doing us proud,…
