By Gavin Y Meet our new high school principal, Mr. Amlin. I took some time to interview Mr. Amlin about his career here at Federal Hocking Local Schools. I learned that Mr. Amlin has been working here at Federal Hocking for seven years. This is his first year as a principal, before that he served as Assistant Superintendent. When asked if he enjoyed being principal of the high school, he said “I like it so far. I enjoy working with students and staff.” Mr. Amlin has 5 daughters in 6th through 12th grades. While students had an off- day on October 5th because of staff PD, six students were busy getting a required CPR training as part of the Healthcare Pilot Preceptorship Grant program.  They are all placed in internships in the healthcare field.  We are very proud of their efforts and wish them all the best as they gain experience in the medical field. When Alan was 8 he started helping out at his family business.   After 35 years Alan still works with his father at Gilchrist convenience and specialty store. At the store Alan takes care of all aspects of the business including, taxes, payroll and mail, as well as purchasing, displaying, and selling merchandise. There will be an opportunity for an overnight 9th grade trip in the spring.  If your teenager is interested in attending, a parent or guardian must attend a mandatory meeting on Monday, October 10th at 7:30 p.m. in the FH auditorium.  We will cover information about the trip itinerary,  when the deposit is due to secure a spot, costs, fundraising opportunities, the required steps for students who take prescription medicines, and answer any questions you have. This meeting should not last more than 30 minutes, but is an important part of planning this opportunity for our Lancer freshmen.
