Traveling all around the world to different places, learning something new each day, and doing outdoor activities, is somewhere you’ll meet Eric Tabler.
Tabler is the dean of students who once was a Spanish teacher for 33 years. He started teaching in the 1992-1993 school year; he retired two years ago but still taught one more year even though he was retired.
Tabler hopes that when he fully steps out in a couple years, that he will make a better impact on the school, staff and students.
“I hope to make the school a better place and a good retirement.”
Tabler was born in Chesterhill, Ohio in 1966. Tabler started Spanish in his high school years. He really liked his Spanish teacher “Mrs. Bless” because she was really nice and even gave him the nickname “Handbone”. The nickname she gave him reminded her of her grandson.
In his college years he was taking Spanish and computer systems business. He ended up switching out of CSB because he started coaching basketball for middle school and did it for 16 years.
“I love kids a lot. They make my day.”
Tabler also went to study abroad in Mexico and lived with his Mexican host family while taking courses. He’s gone to Mexico twice because he ended up really loving it. He really enjoyed it as well to the point where it inspired him to be a Spanish teacher. His main language is English, over time with his Mexican family and high school years he learned Spanish.
His dream job is to be where he’s at right now; he really loves kids and making them happy and wants to make the place a better environment.
“I love Tabler. He’s always there for his students and he can always make you laugh. He’s an amazing person,” Aubrey Edwards said.
He doesn’t ever want to move nor live somewhere else except where he is right now. He really loves the countryside. Though he doesn’t want to move, he loves to travel places around the country. His dream vacations would be to go on cruises, such as mediterranean, panama conal, and a trans atlantic cruise.
In his free times he loves to be outside, hunt, fish, camp, and travel. He used to do a lot of wood working as well but doesn’t have time to do it anymore.
“When I retire I hope that I can do it again, I really loved and enjoyed it.”
Tabler has a wife and two step sons, and four grandchildren. His wife’s name is Kippy, and she was a bus driver for Federal Hocking. This year she’s a sub bus driver.
Tabler also has a dog that he deeply cherishes, even though he could be obnoxious. His dog is a Boston Terrier.
Tabler loves to watch college football; his favorite team is the Ohio State Buckeyes. When he was younger he played baseball, basketball, and did cross country. He was a very outgoing person and still is. His favorite band is the Eagles. He really likes old school music, including his dream car. His dream car is a Chevy camaro. Tabler dislikes snakes a lot; he thinks they are very disgusting and they scare him.
Tabler is a very outgoing person. Once you get to know him, he’s a very interesting person. Don’t be scared to give him a smile in the hallways or nervous to ask him questions about sports or outdoor activities.
Active, hardworking, and approachable are three unique words to describe Tabler.
