Christina Pickrell, a new teacher at Federal Hocking is very enthusiastic and is always eager to teach and spend time with her students. She obtained her BS in accounting and she was three classes away from her MBA, and also six months pregnant, so she started subbing for extra money. Pickrell decided she wanted to teach, so she went back to college to get her Master’s of Education with a Mild to Moderate intervention specialist (K-12) Certification at Notre Dame College. Pickrell always seems to click with students who need extra help.
“Truth be told, I was every teacher’s worst nightmare in high school,” Pickrell said.
Pickrell was excited to be accepted into Federal Hocking for the purpose of the students. It’s been said that the teachers really care about all their students. Pickrell is from New Lexington, but lives in Logan now. Pickrell loves her job.
“Being in one classroom all day is much different than what I am used to, but each class varies, so it keeps it interesting.”
Pickrell’s hobbies are supporting her children. She supports her son, who is in taekwondo by going to his tournaments. Pickrell’s favorite sport is college football.
“I enjoy anything that involves running because I was fast but not throwing, ask my students.”
Pickrell said her favorite color is green and her favorite food is Arroz con Pollo. She was born an only child. Pickrell is excited to experience the rest of this year as a Lancer.
Sophomore Elijah Scott has Pickrell as a teacher and he shared his thoughts.
“Pickrell is a fun and inspiring teacher to be around and we have a great time in her class.”
