Pat Tabler from Start to End

If you know Pat Tabler you know him as a bus driver or the nice and friendly guy walking around school. He may give you a fist bump, he may just say hi. But he is a very welcoming guy.

Pat Tabler is a transportation maintenance worker and has been working at Federal Hocking for 41 years. He oversees the transportation for students from point a to point b, and arranges the transportation for extra curricular activities.

Tabler went to FH. He was a well known athlete, played basketball, baseball, and football. He graduated from FH and he had a lot of good memories.

“Some of the early pep rallies. There were some really good ones. The teachers got involved. One time they convinced the student body that there was a famous person coming but it was just one of the teachers walking out of a limo in a lancer mascot uniform.”

After graduation, Tabler attended Hocking College. He then studied business management. Tabler first started working at FH after he graduated working with the grounds and maintenance. He started driving busses for FH right away.

Gracie McCune has known Tabler for decades; not only are they family friends, but she attended FH and now the two of them work in the central office together.

“To know Federal Hocking is to know Pat Tabler. Pat has dedicated his life to the district and it shows through his countless hours of time spent on campus. Have a problem? Call Pat. Need a good laugh? Call Pat. We are lucky to have him in the Lancer community,” McCune said.

Tabler later began officiating for baseball, volleyball, and basketball. When Tabler isn’t officiating or working at the school, he works on the family farm. Sadly, he recently had to put down his cat.

Tabler may be saying goodbye to FH in the next two years, he does not 100% know when but soon he said. Before then Tabler wants to have everything in order, after all he is involved in many events. After retirement he still plans on being a ref and he said he would like to travel.

Tabler started this job because he had a good relationship with his teachers and he didn’t want to give that up. Tabler decided to work at FH because he had always had a good relationship with his teaching staff and they kind of guided him a little bit. The good thing about them guiding him was that he had learned a lot, the bad part about that was that he didn’t hang out with a younger crowd. But he will always help you out with something and he might tell you a few stories too!
