From Hating Teaching to Loving It

Have you ever wondered what one of the most well known teachers at Federal Hocking thinks about this school coming from Tri County? Well, Logan Lehman, a guy from a small town called Jamestown, VA with a population of 2,000 has made a remarkable first impression with the FH community.

His hobbies are playing video games, watching film or baking as he says its a “stress reliever”. Lehman recently rescued his eight-year old dog Romeo.

Lehman was told at a young age that he should become a teacher and young Lehman didn’t like that, but once he got older, he started coaching. He then realized that he wanted to become a teacher because he saw the impact that he had on the kids he taught and the impact that the kids had on him. Lehman applied to Ohio University’s Patton College of Education, where he still attends classes to this day. Lehman now plans to bring his teaching ability to make an impact on the students at FH.

Many students are fans of Lehman.

Dylan Scott, a senior at FH said that “He’s one of the kindest teachers to come to FH and has been one of my favorite teachers ever.”

He noticed differences between Tri County and FH.

“Everything really, students from Federal Hocking are all from one area so they all know each other, which makes it easier to get the students to talk to each other. while students from Tri County are just juniors and seniors from a variety of different schools.”

Lehman also pointed out other differences between the two schools.

“The funding is different because a school like Tri County gets funding from all the different schools that it has in it, while a school like Federal Hocking only gets funding from its community.”

Lehman cares about his students.  He also noticed another aspect about FH culture that makes the school unique.

“I see how familiar people are with each other at FH, students from FH already have their friend groups and don’t really have to make new friends, but students at Tri are always trying to make new friends.”

Lehman said his favorite thing about FH is the students.

“Working here is a treat because of the students I have in class and how small the school is because even the kids I don’t have in class, I know their names.”
