Meet our new high school principal, Mr. Amlin. I took some time to interview Mr. Amlin about his career here at Federal Hocking Local Schools. I learned that Mr. Amlin has been working here at Federal Hocking for seven years. This is his first year as a principal, before that he served as Assistant Superintendent. When asked if he enjoyed being principal of the high school, he said “I like it so far. I enjoy working with students and staff.”
Mr. Amlin has 5 daughters in 6th through 12th grades. His daughters play Volleyball, Cross Country, and Golf. He also has a wife who teaches at Amesville Elementary. Mrs. Amlin used to teach 1st grade, but now she teaches a Reading Intervention class.
I concluded my interview with a question most teachers ask kids at the beginning of the year, “What is a goal for this year for you?
“Instead of having kids get in trouble, I am trying to get kids to behave more and have more ideas for the Lancer Cup to get kids more excited about it,” says Mr. Amlin. The Lancer Cup is when advisories compete against each other and can earn points by achieving accomplishments.
After sitting down with Mr. Amlin, I think he’s a fair and friendly person who will serve the school well. Thank you, Mr. Amlin, for becoming our new Federal Hocking High School Principal.
