The Uprising of FHHS Softball

The Federal Hocking High School girls’ softball team was in jeopardy of cancelling their season if they did not recruit more players.

Assistant Coach Kaitlyn Kromer said, “I was really looking forward to assistant coaching for the first time this year, but the odds aren’t looking that great for a team.”

Kromer has played softball all four years of her high school career as a catcher.

Head Coach Glen Wilkes was very disappointed because of this downfall.

“I’m afraid for the first time there won’t be a softball team. This is really devastating for the softball program.”

But fortunately, they did end up getting enough to have a team with the help of Rorie Tabler, Harmony Dotson, Paige Amlin, Jaylee Osborne and Kara Jarvis.

Right Field Player, Kaylee Poston-Ford, was overjoyed.

“I’m so happy to be able to play this year, thanks to the girls that showed up when we really needed them.”

FH Athletic Director Stephanie Evans was relieved.

“Being able to see athletes step up for a team is exciting and shows the devotion that they have for the school.”
