Brandy Russell, Class of ’99

I am a Microbiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention working with vector-borne diseases. My primary responsibility is managing a historical arbovirus repository. I’ve had the opportunity to travel internationally and work with government institutions and NGOs to promote public health. As a Federal employee I’ve been able to volunteer to deploy for disease outbreaks in various settings; performing diagnostic testing during an Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, screening international travelers for COVID-19 at LAX, and working in HHS to support two separate administrations on a Testing and Diagnostics Working Group in Washington DC.
